Texas given 5-1 odds to win 2017 Big 12 football championship

Posted July 14th, 2017

Expectations placed on Texas by bettors are always a little higher than the real ones. A massive fan base with deep pockets will do that.

Even so, the Big 12 championship odds put out by bookmaker Bovada on Friday are sure to raise some eyebrows. The online sportsbook gives the Longhorns 5-1 odds to take home the title, only slightly worse than the 3-1 figure placed next to second favorite Oklahoma State.

The favorite, of course, is Oklahoma. The Sooners are heavy favorites at 5-6. If you’re looking for value, West Virginia at 20-1 seems ripe for the picking.

The same oddsmakers have Texas as a 33-1 favorite to take home the national title, ahead of Oklahoma State (50-1). Confused yet?
