Let’s use Texas’ roster, history and scouting reports to countdown to the start of the 2017 football season. Today, we are only 46 days away from Texas’ home game against Maryland.
Which Longhorn wears No. 46? LB Malik Jefferson, who has accumulated 123 tackles and eight sacks over his two years on campus. The only five-star recruit signed by Texas over the past four years, Jefferson has made 18 starts at UT. Last week, Jefferson was voted onto the Big 12’s preseason football team.
Who also wears No. 46? Iowa State DL Spencer Benton (21 tackles, 1.5 sacks in 2016); Kansas State LB Jayd Kirby (two blocked kicks); West Virginia DL Reese Donahue (12 tackles)
Fun fact about No. 46: Texas Ex Chris Ogbonnaya’s 46 catches in 2008 is a single-season record for Texas RBs. Last year, D’Onta Foreman and Kyle Porter combined for nine catches out of the backfield.
