Texas’ search for a tight end in the 2019 class led the Longhorn staff to Temple. Three-star prospect Jared Wiley of Temple High School picked up an offer from the Longhorns on Tuesday afternoon, days after Texas extended an offer to Brock High School tight end Baylor Cupp.
Wiley is a 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end who holds offers from SMU and Missouri. His stock is sure to rise with a Texas offer now in tow. In 11 games as a junior, Wiley caught 26 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns. He’s also a willing blocker.
Texas signed one tight end in the 2018 class and needs at least one in the 2019 class. Wiley was the seventh tight end offered by the Longhorns in the 2019 class. He’s the No. 37-ranked tight end in the country, per 247Sports Composite.
