Postseason presence projected for Texas as baseball team reaches the mid-season

Posted April 6th, 2018

On May 19, Texas will close out its regular season with a home game against TCU. At least two publications expect UT’s 2018 campaign to extend past that date.

Texas made the cut for the postseason predictions published this week by D1Baseball and Baseball America. D1Baseball has Texas as a No. 3 seed in a regional hosted by Kentucky. Baseball America is sending UT to Arkansas as a No. 2 seed.

In these scenarios, Texas may actually prefer a higher seed. The Longhorns lost twice at Arkansas last month by a combined score of 20-9.

Texas (19-12) is listed 37th in this week’s RPI rankings. With a 6-3 mark against Big 12 opponents, UT is set to play three games against Baylor (14-13; 3-6) at UFCU Disch-Falk Field this weekend. The Longhorns have won three straight games.
