When it comes to Texas football, “the BBs are out of the box.”
Using a phrase he attributed to legendary Longhorns coach Darrell K. Royal, UT Athletic Director Chris Del Conte said he is enlisting the help of Mack Brown to get them back in.
The coach who led the Longhorns to their most recent success has an office on campus and a direct line to current coach Tom Herman, Del Conte told ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM earlier this week.
“When Mack got here he had Darrell Royal to lean on,” Del Conte said. “We’re bringing Mack back into the fold. Mack Brown will be in the building. We have an office for him where he sits around and gets to talk to Tom about what Darrell educated him on and helping all of us. It’s going to take a united effort.”

As for those BBs?
“How do you start to put all those BBs back in the box? You get all the people that have won, put them in the same boat, and you start sharing a shared vision,” Del Conte said. “If we get everybody rowing that direction, this is a reckoning. It’s not a tsunami.”
