The Final Pitch: Texas 9, Houston 4
Posted April 24th, 2018
Held to four hits, Texas still managed to score nine times in a five-run win over Houston at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday.
Texas trailed 3-0 after the second inning but rallied behind a four-run third inning. The Longhorns then scored five times in the fourth frame. Thanks to a plethora of mistakes by Houston, Texas scored those nine runs without one run-scoring hit.
UT starter Tristan Stevens lasted only one out on Tuesday, so the Longhorns’ seven-hitter was split between six pitchers. Freshman Bryce Elder was credited with the victory after an appearance that lasted 2 2/3 innings.
Texas (29-15) entered Tuesday’s game ranked 33d nationally in RPI. Houston (25-16) was 83rd. On Friday, Texas will travel to West Virginia for a three-game series with a Mountaineer team with the 32nd-best RPI.
