Posted April 25th, 2018

The “2018 This is Texas Tour” swung through Midland on Tuesday, and it brought many of the top names in the Texas athletics program with it.

During the festivities, Longhorns men’s basketball coach Shaka Smart provided a brief update on Andrew Jones, who has been battling leukemia since December.

“He goes to the local rec center to play basketball,” Smart said. “So he’s actually playing, and his goal is to play next year. I’ve told him, ‘Hey man, let’s just get you healthy. But yeah, for him to have that in his mind, you can tell he’s a real fighter.”

You’ve likely seen Jones’ own updates on social media. A couple weeks ago, he even posted a clip of his rec center exploits. Those scrubs never stood a chance.
