After ascending to the top of the Big 12, Texas climbed the rankings on Monday.
Texas has been placed in the 12th slot of D1Baseball’s weekly poll, the publication revealed on Monday. It is the highest ranking of the season for UT, which was ranked 17th last week. No. 15 Texas Tech is the only other Big 12 team listed in this week’s poll.
Texas (37-18) went 4-0 this past week with its last three victories coming at TCU’s expense. That sweep of the Horned Frogs helped Texas beat out Oklahoma State for the Big 12’s championship. UT last won the conference’s regular-season title in 2011.
Texas now shifts its attention to the Big 12 tournament, which begins on Wednesday. The Longhorns will meet Kansas in their first game at Oklahoma City’s Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. UT swept Kansas earlier this year.
In addition to the Big 12 tournament’s title, Texas is also attempting to secure the hosting rights for one of the NCAA tournament’s 16 regionals.
