Knee injuries sideline Texas freshmen Ayodele Adeoye, DeMarvion Overshown vs. Maryland

Posted August 15th, 2018

Texas freshmen Ayodele Adeoye and DeMarvion Overshown will miss the season opener against Maryland after a further diagnosis of their respective knee injuries, the school announced Wednesday.

Both players suffered the injuries during Saturday’s scrimmage. Their long-term health status remains unclear as there is no timetable for their return.

Both injuries hurt the linebacker room, although Overshown is technically listed as a defensive back. Adeoye was projected to be a key contributor this season after enrolling last January and going through spring workouts. He was considered the nation’s sixth-best inside linebacker recruit last season by 247Sports.

Overshown was the nation’s sixth-best rated safety by 247Sports. However, he had been working out with the linebacker for depth purposes.

Starting cornerback Davante Davis was also injured in Saturday’s scrimmage. No information about his status has been made available.
