Texas to host College World Series qualifiers and longtime rivals during 2019 baseball season

Posted August 17th, 2018

Seven baseball teams that reached the 2018 NCAA tournament are on Texas’ home schedule in 2019, the school announced on Friday.

The first four of UT’s 31 home games will be played against Purdue from February 22-24. Sam Houston State, Texas State and Rice are among the scheduled mid-week guests. Texas Southern, which participated in the Austin regional this past June, will return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on March 12.

Texas Tech, Kansas State, West Virginia and Oklahoma are the Big 12 teams heading to Austin this upcoming spring.

The Longhorns traveled to three SEC towns in 2017, but the schedule is flipped this spring. Texas is set to play LSU at home from March 1-3. Arkansas will be in town from March 19-20. Texas and Texas A&M will renew their rivalry on April 2.

Texas went 42-23 in 2018, and the Longhorns joined Texas Tech and Arkansas at the College World Series. On Feb. 15, UT will open the 2019 season at Louisiana-Lafayette.
