Ahead of its debut at home, No. 6 Texas slips four spots in a national poll
Posted September 3rd, 2018
A loss cost Texas a shot at being the top-ranked volleyball team in the country, but the Longhorns still find themselves among the NCAA’s elites.
On Monday, Texas was ranked sixth in the AVCA’s national poll. Texas trailed only Stanford in last week’s poll, but the team dropped a four-set match at Wisconsin on Saturday. The Longhorns (3-1) closed out their weekend with a sweep of High Point.
Texas was the only program among the poll’s top seven teams that didn’t receive a first-place vote. Minnesota (5-0) topped this week’s ranking after Stanford (4-1) was upended in five sets by BYU.
After opening the season with four matches on the road, Texas is set to play twice at home this week. Following Texas State’s visit to Gregory Gym on Thursday night, Texas will host No. 16 Kentucky on Friday.
