Texas athletics announces lower concession prices at the Erwin Center

Posted November 28th, 2018

Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte and his top lieutenant Drew Martin, the architect for Bevo Boulevard, are ready to tackle the fan experience at the Erwin Center.

In an email to fans late Tuesday, the school announced lower concession prices for basketball games and the introduction of happy-hour pricing for beer sales until tipoff.

Going forward, soda, bottled water, candy and popcorn will be $3. A bottled soda, hot dog, peanuts and nachos are $4. Soda in a souvenir UT cup and large popcorn is $5.

Fans can also purchase $5 domestic beer and $6 premium beers from the time the doors 90 minutes before tipoff.

Both Del Conte and Martin are still trying to get their arms around what can be done to energize the basketball environment. Both were previously at TCU, and this is their first full basketball season at Texas.

Officials have looked at trying to copy the Bevo Boulevard football experience for some basketball games, but they admit it’s impossible to do it every game.
