Texas climbs to No. 9 in NCAA poll, but five games against ranked foes await on this week’s schedule

Texas’ baseball team earned a promotion on Monday, but the Longhorns won’t have much time to celebrate.
Texas has claimed the ninth spot in national poll compiled by D1Baseball, the publication revealed on Monday. The Longhorns were ranked 12th last week, but the team pounded Texas Southern before taking two of its three games against No. 11 Texas Tech. This is the highest that Texas has been ranked this season.
The Red Raiders slipped to No. 19 in this week’s poll. Texas and Texas Tech were joined in the D1Baseball poll by No. 22 TCU and No. 25 Oklahoma.
Texas (15-7; 2-1 Big 12) has already gone 6-4 this month against teams ranked in the D1Baseball poll. Eleventh-ranked Arkansas (17-2) will be in town on Tuesday and Wednesday. UT must then travel to TCU (12-6; 0-0) for a three-game series this weekend.
