The revival of a rivalry, a shot at revenge and a family reunion are among the highlights of UT’s 2019 volleyball schedule.
Texas released its schedule for the upcoming volleyball season on Tuesday. The 24-match schedule features 12 dates at Gregory Gym. Texas is set to open the season at home on Aug. 30 against a Northern Iowa team that is coached by the mother of Longhorn libero Sydney Petersen.
We have some big matches at Gregory this season, y'all. Mark you calendars! #PointTexasAdvertisement

At first glance, the strength of Texas’ schedule should be a concern. Since the Big 12 sent only Texas and Baylor to the postseason last year, only eight of UT’s upcoming matches are against teams that reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament. One of those marquee match-ups will played on Sept. 7 at Stanford, which won the NCAA title in 2018. The Longhorns will also battle BYU on a neutral court in a rematch of UT’s season-ending loss in last season’s regional final.
After taking last year off, Texas and Texas A&M will meet in Austin for the 44th time on Sept. 20. USC is also among Gregory Gym’s scheduled visitors. Conference play will get underway when Iowa State comes to town on Sept. 25.
UT went 23-5 this past season. Three-time All-American outside hitter Micaya White is among the 11 expected returnees to Texas’ roster.
