Posted August 21st, 2019

The Frank Denius Family University of Texas Athletics Hall of Fame will have a public grand opening Friday, Aug. 30, the school announced Wednesday.

The $17.1 million project will be the first all-sports Hall of Fame for the university. The hall is located in the Red McCombs Red Zone in the north end zone of Royal-Memorial Stadium.

Friday’s celebration begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public and free of charge.

“So much of our history was scattered throughout campus and in our various sports venues,” said UT Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte. “We now have all of our traditions, trophies, awards and accomplishments housed in one place. It’s truly awesome.”

Visitors can expect to be greeted by an 8-foot tall, 1,200-pound Longhorn statue in honor of Bevo.
