Texas snags four-star cornerback Joshua Eaton

Posted August 23rd, 2019

Texas added its fifth member to the defensive back class in the 2020 cycle on Friday when four-star cornerback Joshua Eaton pledged to Texas over 30 other offers. The 6-2, 175-pound prospect from Aldine MacArthur is the 20th-ranked cornerback in the country. He joins fellow cornerback commits Ethan Pouncey and Kitan Crawford. Eaton was a first-team all-district selection as a junior and impressed throughout the offseason at elite camps like The Opening regionals in Houston.

“The coaching staff and players at Texas are outstanding. They’ve always treated me right and kept it real throughout the entire process,” Eaton said. “I enjoyed every visit there. It was always a good time.”

Eaton is the 18th overall member of Texas 2020 class, which has exploded since the start of July. It now ranks sixth in the nation and is among the top five in average ranking per recruit. Only three of Texas 17 pledges rank below three stars. Eaton is another high-upside prospect Texas can experiment with in the defensive backfield.
