Texas reserves D’Andre Christmas-Giles and J.P. Urquidez to say goodbye a year early

Posted November 25th, 2019

On Friday, Texas’ Senior Day activities will feature a few juniors.

Texas has announced the name of 17 players who will be honored ahead of the final home game of UT’s 2019 season. The Longhorns’ Class of 2019, though, will feature five players who still have at least one year of eligibility left.

Defensive lineman D’Andre Christmas-Giles, offensive lineman J.P. Urquidez and punter Chris Nagger are all listed as juniors on the Texas roster. All three players redshirted at some point and are in their fourth year of college. Sophomore tight end Austin Hibbetts and junior offensive lineman Ishan Rison, who was both walk-ons, will also be honored on Senior Day.

Christmas-Giles has recorded six tackles and a sack over the 19 career games that he’s appeared in. Urquidez, who was among the four players who defected to Texas in the wake of Baylor’s sexual assault scandal, has played in 13 games. After Ryan Bujcevski was injured earlier this season, Naggar took over as UT’s punter and is averaging 40.6 yards per kick.

According to Texas, the players in its senior class have combined for 6,594 all-purpose yards, 482 tackles and 34 touchdowns. Five of the seniors were named team captains this year. Here is a list of UT’s seniors:
