NCAA announces times for Gregory Gym’s third- and fourth-round tournament matches
Posted December 8th, 2019
In order to reach the Final Four, Texas must survive a weekend with the Cardinals, Gators and Golden Gophers.
Texas’ 2019 postseason run will continue at 3 p.m. this upcoming Friday, the NCAA announced on Sunday. Texas, which owns a 23-3 record and is the NCAA tournament’s second overall seed, and unseeded Louisville (21-9) will battle at Gregory Gym. ESPNU will broadcast this Sweet Sixteen match.
No. 7 Minnesota (25-5) and No. 10 Florida (27-4) will also meet at Gregory Gym at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
The winners of the Louisville/Texas and Florida/Minnesota duels will play for a spot in the Final Four at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Gregory Gym will also host that match, which will again be aired on ESPNU. The Final Four will be held in Pittsburgh from Dec. 19-21.
Texas has some familiarity with the other three teams in the Austin regional. The Longhorns own a 3-0 record against Louisville, but those matches were played in 1985, 1994 and 2012. The last five seasons featured six matches between Texas and Florida. Earlier this season, Texas earned a 25-22, 29-27, 35-33 win over Minnesota in Gregory Gym.
A nice note about next week's regional in Austin? Both Texas DS Autumn Rounsaville and Florida OH Morgyn Greer will both get at least one last hurrah in Central Texas. That dynamic duo helped lead nearby Dripping Springs to a state title in 2015. pic.twitter.com/qvbd8INzNI
