Three-star running back Jonathon Brooks pledges to Texas

Posted May 15th, 2020

Texas’ 10th commitment of the 2021 recruiting cycle came Friday when three-star running back Jonathon Brooks. The Halletsville product is the first running back taken by the Longhorns in this recruiting cycle. Texas wants two running backs in 2021 with four-stars LJ Johnson and Camar Wheaton as the top prospects to fill the other void. Texas’ 2021 class ranks first in the Big 12.

Brooks is a 6-0, 185-pound running back with a variety of skills. He’s not a three-down running back yet because of his lack of size, but he does provide a big enough base to reach 200 pounds by the time he arrives on campus. Brooks is a home-run hitting running back with the ability to catch out of the backfield and even play some slot receiver. He held seven offers.
