Four-star cornerback Jamier Johnson became Texas’ 14th pledge Friday afternoon when the Pasadena, Calif. Native chose the Longhorns over 14 other offers, including Ohio State and Oregon. The 6-0, 170-pound prospect attends high school at John Muir. He’s the 17th-ranked cornerback and the 24th-best prospect out of California, per 247Sports composite rankings.

Johnson is the second cornerback to pick Texas in the 2021 recruiting class, joining fellow four-star Ishmael Ibraheem. Johnson was a two-way starter as a junior, recording 32 tackles and four interceptions on defense, while accounting for 17 catches and 217 yards as a wide receiver. Defensive back is his future as he possesses the versatility to stay at cornerback or evolve into a safety.
