Multi-sport talents can emerge from anywhere, and the Texas men’s basketball program just plucked one from Davenport, Iowa.
The Longhorns landed a commitment from Emarion Ellis, a three-star guard for the recruiting class of 2021. He becomes the second player in what’s expected to be a pivotal class designed to restock the roster.

“We’ve been keeping in touch for a while,” Ellis told Orangebloods. “I felt like what I have right now in my situation and who I have supporting me I feel like Texas has that and what I am looking for.”
Ellis (6-4, 180 pounds) is likely to now draw interest from other major programs. He’s also the quarterback and safety for his high school team.
The Horns also have a commitment from three-star forward Keeyan Itejere for 2021.
Coach Shaka Smart signed only one player for the 2020 recruiting class, because the Horns had only one spot available. Greg Brown III is a possible one-and-done standout from Vandegrift. There could be at least five open spots in 2021.
