The Texas men’s golf team shot 858, 6 over par to finish in third place at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Tuesday.
“Finishing third in a field like we saw in Cabo is a solid showing for our team,” head coach John Fields said. “We have a lot of work to do to get where we want to be.”
Doug Ghim led the the No. 17 Longhorns, shooting 210 over three rounds. He finished in sixth place overall after carding a 70 in the final round.
Steven Chervony took a tie for 20th place for Texas. He shot 216 overall, and finished with a final round 73.
Scottie Scheffler finished tied for 29th after shooting a 74 on Tuesday. He finished one shot back of Chervony at 217, 4 over par.
Spencer Soosman shot 70, nine shots better than his second round, in the final round to finish tied for 53rd. He moved up 12 spots in the final round.
Nick Costello finished in 60th place.
Top-ranked Oklahoma State won the event, shooting 838, 14 under par. Collin Morikawa of California won the individual title after finishing 16 under par. No. 13 California took second place at 6 under par.
