The Texas men’s golf team finished tied for ninth place after the final round of the Lamkin Classic in Chula Vista, Calif. on Tuesday.
Scottie Scheffler shot 71 to finish in a tie for 11th. He shot 213 overall.
Steven Chervony finished in a tie for 27th. He shot 218, 76 on Tuesday, for 2 over par.
Doug Ghim was two shots behind Chervony to take a tie for 40th. His 72 on Tuesday tied his best round of the tournament.
Nick Costello and Spencer Soosman tied for 77th as they each shot 229, 13 over par.
Christoffer Bring competed as an individual and tied with Costello and Soosman.
Fredrik Nilehn of Texas Tech took medalist honors after shooting 201, 15 under par. Oklahoma State won the team competition with a score of 820, 44 under par.
On Monday, Chervony and Scheffler each shot 142 over two rounds to lead the Longhorns. Chervony shot a 72 followed by a 70, and Scheffler started with a 69 and ended the day shooting a 73.
Scheffler made nine birdies on the day while Chervony made eight.
Texas shot 583 overall and trailed first-place Oklahoma State by 30 shots.
Ghim followed his first-round 72 with a 76 to sit at 4 over par, in a tie for 47th. He made four birdies in the two rounds.
Soosman shot 151 over the first two rounds to tie for 74th. He opened with a 6-over-par 78 but improved by five shots in his second round.
Costello opened with a 78 and followed it up with a 76 to sit in a tie for 87th.
Bring shot 75 in both rounds and is tied for 70th.
The Texas men’s golf team will next compete in the Valspar Collegiate Championship at the Floridian National Golf Club on Sunday.
