The Texas men’s golf team had a tough final round, shooting 283, to finish in third place at the Amer Ari Invitational Saturday in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
The Longhorns shot 829 overall, 12 shots back of first place Oklahoma State. The Horns’ final round followed a program-best 35-under par, 265 in the second round. Auburn took second place, two shots ahead of Texas.
Cole Hammer shot 72 for a final of 203 to take a tie for fourth place, leading the Longhorns. He opened the tournament with a 67 and followed it with a low-round 64 on Friday.
Steven Chervony broke through to finish in the top 10 with a 68 in the final round. He was the only Longhorn to shoot in the 60s Saturday and took ninth place with a total of 206.
Parker Coody finished three shots back of Chervony to finish in a tie for 12th. He shot 70 in the final round.
Spencer Soosman shot 77 and Christoffer Bring shot 73 to take ties for 42nd and 66th.
Matthew Wolfe of Oklahoma State took medalist honors at 198, 18 under par.
