Longhorns men’s tennis sweeps in opener

The 12th-ranked Longhorns swept Abilene Christian 7-0 to win their season opener Tuesday at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center.

Julian Zlobinsky defeated Hunter Holman 6-3, 6-4 in the fourth singles position to give the Longhorns their fourth point, clinching the team victory.

Michael Riechmann and Adrian Ortiz started the competition on the right foot with a 6-4 win over Henry Adams and Josh Sheehy in the first doubles position. George Goldhoff and Zlobinsky clinched the doubles point by defeating Paul Domanski and Jason Proctor 6-3.

Colin Markes and Harrison Scott won in a tiebreaker 7-6 (2) in the third doubles match over Brad Gleason and Sebastian Langdon.

The Longhorns took a 2-0 lead when Johnny Goodwin defeated Abilene Christian’s Cole Lawson 6-1, 6-0. Harrison Scott made it 3-0 with his equally dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Proctor.

With the team win in hand, Reichmann defeated Domanski 6-3, 6-1 to make the score 5-0.

Colin Markes notched his first collegiate singles win as he defeated Adams 7-5, 6-1.

Goldhoff completed the sweep with his tiebreaker win over Sheehy 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).
