The Texas men’s tennis team fell to the Oklahoma Sooners 4-1 Friday at the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla. The match schedule was altered as thunderstorms forced the action inside at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Harrison Scott was the only Longhorn to pick up a victory as he defeated No. 81 Alex Ghilea 6-1, 7-6 (6) after Oklahoma won three straight singles matches.
Florin Bragusi defeated Rodrigo Banzer 6-2, 6-2 and Andre Biro defeated Julian Zlobinsky 6-0, 7-5 to make the match score 2-0. Axel Alvarez Llamas, No. 25 in the country, then bested No. 59 George Goldhoff 6-3, 6-3.
Scott’s win temporarily stopped the bleeding for Texas, but Maxime Mora closed out the match with a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 win over Michael Riechmann.
Instead of the match beginning with doubles, the six singles matches were played first. Since Oklahoma took four of five, doubles wasn’t played.
