Men’s tennis team advances at NCAA Championships

The No. 18 Texas men’s tennis team made quick work of the Lamar Cardinals as they won 4-0 Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Championships. The Longhorns won the doubles point and took three straight-set singles victories to advance to the second round.
Texas will face No. 12 Texas A&M at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Aggies’ Mitchell Tennis Center.
Adrian Ortiz and Julian Zlobinsky defeated Jeandre Hoogenboezem and Nikita Lis 6-2 while John Mee and Harrison Scott won 6-2 over Juuso Laitinen and Sebastian Santibanez to secure the doubles point.
George Goldhoff won 6-4, 6-3 over Michael Feucht before Michael Riechmann defeated Hoogenboezem 6-4, 6-4 to put the Longhorns up 3-0.
Ortiz sealed the victory with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Lis at second singles.
