Texas men’s tennis team defeats Wichita State

The seventh-ranked Texas men’s tennis team took a dominating 6-1 win over Wichita State at the Weller Tennis Center on Friday night.

The Longhorns won the doubles point before recording five singles victories to close out the match.

Leonardo Telles and Colin Markes teamed up to defeat Miroslav Herzan and Murkel Dellien 6-2 before Christian Sigsgaard and Julian Zlobinsky won by the same score over Jocelyn Devilliers and Marius Frosa.


With the doubles point secured, Yuya Ito kept things rolling as he defeated Devilliers 6-1, 6-2 in singles competition.

Zlobinsky made it 3-0 with his 6-2, 6-3 win over Dellien.

Wichita State got on the scoreboard at first singles, but Telles sealed the match with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Eddie Stoica.

Harrison Scott and Rodrigo Banzer added wins to give the Longhorns six points on the day.

The Longhorns next take on No. 3 Wake Forest on Mar. 4 at 3 p.m.
