No. 3 Wake Forest tops Texas men’s tennis

The Texas men’s tennis team failed to notch a win as they were were shut out 4-0 against Wake Forest on Saturday at the Weller Tennis Center.

The No. 3 Demon Deacons took the doubles point and three singles matches to run away with the victory.

Petros Chrysochos, ranked No. 2 in singles competition, sealed the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 11 Christian Sigsgaard.


“I think Wake Forest just played better than us today,” said head coach Michael Center. “We didn’t capitalize on our opportunities. I give them credit. They were better than us today.”

Top-ranked duo Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim defeated George Goldhoff and Leonardo Telles 6-3. Borna Gojo and Alan Gadjiev topped Harrison Scott and Julian Zlobinsky 7-5 to earn the doubles point for Wake Forest.

Gojo made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Scott.

Seraphim put Wake Forest within a win of sealing the match as he defeated Telles 6-4, 6-2.

The Longhorns next face Rice at Weller Tennis Center on Sunday at 3 p.m.
