The Longhorns men’s tennis team swept the UT-Arlington Mavericks 7-0 Tuesday at the Caswell Tennis Center.
No. 8 Texas (17-4) won two doubles matches to earn the doubles point before winning six straight singles contests. The Longhorns didn’t drop a set in the competition.
Yuya Ito sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Guanarteme Nuez.
George Goldhoff and Leonardo Telles defeated the 58th-ranked duo of Jhonathan Gonzalez and Mauricio Del Rio 6-1 to kick off the doubles competition.
Colin Markes and Ito sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Mario Muniesa and Pablo Colvee.
Harrison Scott gave Texas a 2-0 lead when he defeated Muniesa 6-0, 6-4 before Christian Sigsgaard topped Gonzalez 6-4, 6-3.
After Ito sealed the win, Rodrigo Banzer defeated Colvee 6-3, 6-2.
Goldhoff added a singles win to his day when he defeated Daniel Armengol 6-4, 6-4.
Telles closed the competition with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Del Rio.
The Longhorns will have some extended time off until they face Oklahoma in their conference opener on March 31.
