The Texas Longhorns men’s tennis team came away with just one singles victory as No. 4 Baylor topped the eighth-ranked Longhorns 4-1 at the Caswell Tennis Center on Wednesday night.

George Goldhoff was the lone victorious Longhorn in the match. He defeated Will Little 6-1, 7-5 at fourth singles. The win made it 2-1 in favor of the Bears, but Baylor got two more singles wins after that to seal the match.

Baylor took the doubles point with two straight wins at first and second doubles to get things started. Momentum carried over to singles competition as the Longhorns struggled to get footing.

“We had a terrible start in doubles, and it set the tone for the match,” head coach Michael Center said. “We never really grabbed the momentum and were just fighting uphill all night.”

Max Tchoutakian made it 2-0 in favor of the Bears with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Christian Sigsgaard.

Juan Benitez also took a win as he defeated Harrison Scott 6-3, 7-5 before Johannes Schretter sealed the win with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 win over Yuya Ito.

The Longhorns will try to bounce back when they host Texas Tech on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Caswell Tennis Center.
