The No. 8 Texas men’s tennis team secured the doubles point and took three singles victories to top Texas Tech 4-1 on Saturday at the Caswell Tennis Center.
Harrison Scott, ranked 48th, bested No. 33 Jolan Cailleau 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to close out the match at first singles.
Colin Markes and Christian Sigsgaard started the match on the right foot for Texas (19-6, 2-2 Big 12) with a 6-2 win over Cailleau and Carlos DiLaura.
Texas Tech (10-14, 0-4), ranked 44th overall, answered with a 6-3 win at first doubles before Rodrigo Banzer and Scott sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 win.
Banzer kept the momentum going with a 7-5, 6-1 win over DiLaura to make it 2-0 in favor of Texas.
Sigsgaard put Texas up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Bjorn Thomson at second singles.
The only Texas setback of the day came when Connor Curry topped Leonardo Telles 6-4, 6-2.
The Texas men’s tennis team concludes the regular season when they travel to face No. 9 TCU on Saturday.
