The No. 7 Longhorns men’s tennis team had a rough top-10 matchup with No. 9 TCU, falling 4-1 Saturday in Fort Worth.
The only win for Texas came from Rodrigo Banzer at fifth singles. He defeated Reese Stalder 6-2, 7-6 to make it 3-1 in favor of TCU.
“TCU was really good today, and it deserved to win the match after going (unbeaten) through conference play,” head coach Michael Center said. “At Nos. 1 and 2 singles, TCU is as good or better than anyone in the country right now.”
Alex Rybakov’s 6-4, 7-6 win over Harrison Scott sealed the match.
TCU got 6-4 wins at second and third doubles to take a 1-0 lead.
Trevor Johnson made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over John Mee.
