Yuya Ito falls in round of 16 at NCAA Championships

After winning two matches and obtaining ITA All-America status, Texas men’s tennis player Yuya Ito fell in the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships to Chris Eubanks of Georgia Tech on Friday.

Eubanks beat the UT freshman in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.

Ito automatically became an All-American by taking two wins in the tournament’s 64-player singles draw. He defeated Aziz Dougaz of Florida State in Wednesday’s first round and then upset No. 10 Mike Redlicki on Thursday.
