The Texas men’s tennis team had little trouble defeating Pennsylvania 7-0 at the Texas Tennis Center on Tuesday.
The No. 10 Longhorns won the doubles point before rattling off six singles victories.
Christian Sigsgaard clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Josh Pompan.
Texas dropped just one set on the day in the dominating victory.
Colin Markes and Sigsgaard started things off with a 6-0 win over Pompan and Aleks Huryn.
Yuya Ito and Harrison Scott sealed the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Noah Makarome and Gabriel Rapoport.
Leonardo Telles took a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Makarome for the Longhorns’ first singles win. That made the match 2-0 for Texas.
Rodrigo Banzer topped Rapoport 6-1, 6-2 to pull the Longhorns within a win of sealing the match.
After Sigsgaard clinched the match, the Longhorns took three more wins.
Ito won 6-3, 6-3 over Kyle Mautner before Adrian Ortiz topped Huryn 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5).
Scott took the final victory of the day with his 6-4, 7-6 (2) triumph over Dmitry Shatalin.
