Texas men take four wins at ITA National Fall Championships

The Texas men came away with four wins Wednesday during the opening round of the ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz.

Texas won three singles matches to go with a doubles win.

Christian Sigsgaard, seeded second, won 6-1, 6-3 over Tanner Smith of Southern Cal.


Yuya Ito topped Tim Ruehl of Arizona State 6-3, 6-2.

Harrison Scott took the third singles win of the day, a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 upset over No. 4 seed Brandon Holt of Southern Cal.

Scott and Sigsgaard earned a 7-6 (6), 6-3 doubles win over Mac Kiger and Josh Peck of North Carolina.

Sigsgaard will next face Mitch Harper of Virginia Tech in the second round of singles.

Ito takes on Joseph Guillin of UC-Santa Barbara while Scott faces Adria Sorriano Barrera of Miami.

In doubles, Scott and Sigsgaard will face Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli of Old Dominion.
