Texas men’s tennis takes nine wins at Miami Invitational

The Texas men’s tennis team totaled nine wins on the second day of the Miami Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla. Saturday.

The Longhorns claimed six singles victories, all against players from Miami. They also won three doubles contests against Mississippi duos.

No. 18 Yuya Ito won in straight sets over No. 35 Bojan Jankulovski, 6-1, 6-3.


Harrison Scott, Colin Markes and Johnny Goodwin also won their singles matches in straight sets.

Chih Chi Huang and Leonardo Telles both went three sets, but each came away with a third-set, tiebreaker win.

Ito and Huang teamed up for an 8-4 doubles win for Texas. Telles and Markes won their match 8-6, as did Nevin Arimilli and Goodwin.

Over two days of action, the Longhorns are 13-4 in singles competition and 7-1 in doubles. The Miami Invitational concludes Sunday after Texas plays Mississippi in singles and Miami in doubles.
