Men’s tennis team hammers Arkansas

Horns win five of six singles matches.

The sixth-ranked Texas men’s tennis team thrashed the Arkansas Razorbacks 6-1 Sunday at Fayetteville, Ark.

The Longhorns (9-0) won the doubles point and five of six singles matches. Senior Colin Markes took a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Pedro Dominguez Alonso, fellow senior Harrison Scott topped Enrique Paya 6-2, 6-4, and junior Yuya Ito clinched it for UT with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Josh Howard-Tripp.

Junior Christian Sigsgaard rallied for a 6-7 (2), 6-3, 1-0 (6) win over Oscar Mesquida, and freshman Chih Chi Huang took a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jose Dominguez Alonso to add to UT’s margin. The lone Texas loss was by Leonardo Telles, a 6-3, 6-4 defeat by Alex Reco.


Next up for the Longhorns is the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championship starting Friday.
