Sigsgaard advances to a pair of finals at Southern Intercollegiate

Christian Sigsgaard reached the finals of both singles and doubles competition at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. on Saturday.

Sigsgaard and Siem Woldeab defeated Johannes Ingildsen and Biran Berdusco of Florida 6-2 in the Red Draw semifinals.

The Texas senior then won two singles matches in straight sets to advance to the Red Draw singles finals. Sigsgaard defeated Hamish Stewart of Tulane 6-4, 6-2 before topping Josh Goodger of Florida 7-5, 7-6 (8). He’ll face Philip Henning of Georgia in Sunday’s final.

Sigsgaard and Woldeab will take on Benjamin Hannestad and Franco Aubone of Miami in the doubles final of the same bracket.

In the Red Draw consolation bracket, Chih Chi Huang and Cleeve Harper beat Andres Martin and Keshav Chopra of Georgia Tech 6-4. The Texas duo faces Boris Kozlov and Malik Bhatnagar of LSU in the consolation final.

Jacob Bullard and Evin McDonald also had a doubles win, in the Black Draw consolation supplemental, defeating Pablo Schelcher and Chris Yun of Georgia Tech 7-6 (3).

In the Silver Draw singles quarterfinals, Nevin Arimilli topped Alex Diaz of Georgia 7-6 (3), 6-3. Armilli later fell in the semifinals, however.

Bullard also went 1-1 on the day, beating William Gratten-Smith of Miami 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the White Draw quarterfinals before losing in semis.

Eshan Talluri picked up two wins in the White Draw consolation bracket. He topped Matteo Vialmin of Clemson 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (5) in the quarterfinals. Talluri won the semi match against  Lane Leschly of Harvard 6-3, 7-6 (3). He faces Benjamin Hannestad of Miami in the final.

Evin McDonald, Huang, Armilli and Bullard all compete in consolation brackets on Sunday.
