Texas men’s tennis representatives take four wins at ITA National Fall Championships

Members of Texas men’s tennis team took four wins at the ITA National Fall Championships on Thursday in Newport Beach, Calif.

Yuya Ito and Christian Sigsgaard each won singles matches and teamed up for a doubles win as well.

Ito defeated Riley Smith of Southern Cal 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the main draw round of 16.


Sigsgaard topped Mateo Vereau of BYU 6-2, 6-0 to move on as well.

The Texas duo advanced to the doubles quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Mor Bulis and Daniel Cukierman of Southern Cal.

Siem Woldeab took a win in the consolation round of 32, defeating Lukas Greif of Florida 6-2, 6-2.

On Wednesday, Ito and Sigsgaard each earned singles wins in addition to taking a doubles victory together.

Ito beat Andrew Fenty of Michigan 7-5, 6-3 while Sigsgaard won 6-3, 6-3 over Ryan Goetz of Virginia.

The Texas duo beat Dario Huber and Renato Lima of Indianapolis 5-7, 7-6 (2), 1-0 (6).
