Texas rowing team qualifies for all grand finals at Longhorn Invite

All Texas rowing boats won their heats, qualifying for the grand finals of the Longhorn Invite on Saturday at Lake Walter E. Long.

The competition started a day early due to predicted winds for mid-morning Saturday.

The I Varsity Eight boat won in 6 minutes, 22.540 seconds, topping Indiana by more than six seconds.


The No. 4 Longhorns took another win when the II Varsity Eight boat claimed first place in 6:36.140, beating Indiana by more than nine seconds.

The I Varsity Four boat also took a win in 7:24.990, beating the Southern Cal boat by less than five seconds.

The final varsity boat, the II Varsity Four boat won in 7:24.420, finishing ahead of Indiana by nearly eight seconds.

Texas also won both Novice Eight heats as well.

The grand finals begin at 7:10 a.m. Saturday.
