Texas rowing sweeps Ohio State in top-10 competition

Posted May 3rd, 2019

The No. 4 Texas rowing team made it a clean sweep, defeating No. 6 Ohio State in all races Friday night in Columbus.

The races had to move up a day due to predicted flooding, but the Longhorns were up to the task.

“Today was another race where we had to adjust to a new schedule with only a few hours notice, and I’m glad we made the most of it,”  head coach Dave O’Neill said.

The First Eight boat beat Ohio State by more than five seconds. The Second Eight won by under three seconds while the First Four and Second Four also took wins. The First Four finished ahead by less than two seconds. The Second Four won by the biggest margin, just under 12 seconds.

The rowing team next turns its attention to the Big 12 Championships in two weeks.
