Texas scored five goals in the first half in a 7-0 rout of Sam Houston State on Friday afternoon at Myers Stadium.
It was the most goals scored by a Texas team at home since 2006, when the Horns topped the Bearkats 7-0.
The Longhorns (3-1-0) scored three times midway through the first half, converting their first three shots on goal.
Olivia Brook started the scoring spree in the 16th minute when she dribbled around a defender and scored from 8 yards out on the right side. Just over a minute later, Alexa Adams beat a defender and hit a shot past goalie Bailey Swain. Jasmine Hart got a crossing pass across the middle of the box in the 25th minute and headed it in to give Texas a three-goal edge.
UT’s Kyra Falcone scored twice in a span of a minute late in the half, giving Texas a 5-0 lead heading into halftime. She headed in a corner kick from Julia Dyche in the 39th minute and beat Swain from the right side in the 40th minute.
Junior Morgan Murphy put Texas up by six with a header off another corner kick by Dyche in the 56th minute, and defender Chelsea Surpris hit a shot in the 70th minute from 40 yards out that looped over goalie Anna Kaiser and into the net.
Texas goalie Taylor Braun made her first start of the season and had one save. Sam Houston State (0-5-0) managed just one shot the entire match.
