Texas soccer wins 3-1 on the road over SFA

Haley Berg scored twice as the Texas soccer team recorded a 3-1 win over Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches on Friday.

The Longhorns trailed early before scoring three straight times to take the win and improve to 2-2. Stephen F. Austin fell to 1-3.

Texas outshot the Ladyjacks 22-10 with 7 shots on goal to the Ladyjacks’ 2. Nicole Curry got the start in net for Texas and made one save.


Mattie Musser gave Stephen F. Austin a lead in the 15th minute as she scored with an assist from Sophia Fondren on a corner kick.

A little over 20 minutes later, Berg struck for the first time to tie the game. Mackenzie McFarland assisted on the play.

Teni Akindoju scored the eventual winning goal in the 62nd minute, assisted by Berg and Cyera Hintzen. It’s Akindoju’s first career goal.

Berg completed the scoring in the 81st minute, providing some insurance for Texas.
