After a scoreless first half, the Texas soccer team broke through twice to beat Washington 2-0 at Myers Stadium on Friday night.
Cyera Hintzen and Haley Berg each scored to help Texas improve to 4-2 on the season. Washington fell to 2-2-2.
The win is the second straight clean sheet for the Longhorns. They’ve outscored their opponents 8-1 over the last three contests.
Neither team had scored by the time a ball was lofted ahead of Berg in the 62nd minute. Berg outraced the defender to send the ball home and give the Longhorns the lead for good. Emma Jett assisted on the goal.
Hintzen added some insurance in the 78th minute, scoring with an assist from Julia Grosso.
The Longhorns will try to keep the momentum going when they host Monmouth Sunday at Myers Stadium at 1 p.m.
