Texas soccer falls to Providence in OT

The Texas soccer team fell to .500 with a 1-0 loss to Providence in overtime at Myers Stadium on Thursday night.

Elayna Grillakis scored the golden goal in the 98th minute of action to take the win.

The loss moved the Longhorns to 4-4 on the year while Providence improved to 4-3-1.


Texas held the advantage in shots and shots on goal. Texas took 18 shots with seven on goal. Providence had just seven shots and connected on its only shot on goal.

Julia Grosso had a chance to give Texas the win late. Shelby Hogan made a diving save on Grosso’s shot from the top of the box. Hogan finished with seven saves in the match.

Haley Berg led the Longhorns with four shots on goal but couldn’t cash in.
