Texas soccer beats Oklahoma in double overtime

Cameron Brooks scored in the 108th minute to lift the Texas soccer team to a 3-2 double overtime win over Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. on Thursday.

Brooks scored her second goal of the season with help from Carlee Allen.

The Red River Rivalry win moves Texas to 11-7-0 overall and 6-3-0 in the Big 12. Oklahoma falls to 8-8-3 and 3-5-1. Texas next enters the Big 12 Championship as the No. 3 seed and will take on TCU Sunday at 8 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.


A goal by Oklahoma in the 69th minute tied the game before the teams had to settle the affair in extra time.

Maya McCutcheon put Oklahoma up early in the game. Yuuka Kurosaki and Kaylee Dao assisted McCutcheon in the fifth minute of the match.

Texas tied the game on a goal by Cyera Hintzen in the 21st minute. Julia Grosso and Haley Berg assisted on Hintzen’s fifth goal of the year. Grosso and Berg also assisted on a goal nearly 20 minutes later to give Texas the lead. Sydney Nobles scored that goal, her second of the season.

Jazzy Richards made the game 2-2 when she scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Kristina O’Donnell.

Oklahoma outshot Texas 24-15, putting 11 shots on goal. Savannah Madden made eight saves in the contest to pick up the win.

Nikki Panas made four saves on the seven Texas shots that were on frame.
