Posted January 24th, 2020

The Texas soccer team added German center back Charlotte Bluemel for the 2020 signing class, it was announced Friday.

“We are very impressed with Charlotte’s ambition in the game,” coach Angela Kelly said. “She aspires to play in League 1 of the Frauen-Bundesliga and represent Germany on the full women’s team. Her competitive spirit and soccer acumen will be a wonderful addition to an already highly ranked 2020 Texas recruiting class.”

The 2020 Texas class holds a No. 10 ranking, according to Top Drawer Soccer. Five of Texas’ signed players are listed in IMG Academy’s Top 150 recruits.

Bluemel has experience on the German Under-17 and Under-19 squad. She started four matches during the team’s push to the quarterfinals of the 2018 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Bluemel also played for the U-17 team that finished second at the 2018 European Championships.
