Posted April 14th, 2018

The Longhorns softball team won 3-0 on Saturday to clinch the series against Texas Tech at McCombs Field.

Paige von Sprecken pitched a shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out seven for her 10th win of the year.

The win makes Texas 8-0 in Big 12 action for the first time since 2013.

“Good job today by our team,” Texas head coach Connie Clark said. “I thought our defense and Paige did a really outstanding job for us. Paige can be really dominating at times.”

Malory Schattle hit her first career home run for the Longhorns (25-15, 8-0 Big 12) and drove in two runs.

Janae Jefferson went 3-for-4 and stole a base.

After a scoreless first inning, Schattle put Texas ahead in the second with a two-run homer into left center.

Taylor Ellsworth scored on an error in the next inning to cap the scoring for Texas.

The Longhorns softball squad closes out the series Sunday at 11 a.m.
