Randel Leahy’s RBI single helped the Texas softball team push Oklahoma to extra innings, and Malory Schattle homered in the top of the eighth, but the Longhorns fell 5-4 in eight innings Sunday to the Sooners at Norman, Okla.
Jocelyn Alo hit two solo homers for Oklahoma (44-3, 15-0), including one to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth, and Lea Wodach delivered the winning run with a two-out single.
Freshman Janae Jefferson led Texas (28-21, 10-6) by going 3-for-4 to stretch her hitting streak to 12 games and her on-base streak to 16. She leads the Big 12 with a .566 average.
Next up for the Longhorns is a doubleheader against Incarnate Word at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Field. They will resume conference play Saturday when they visit Waco to face Baylor.
